What You Should Know?
You need to be comfortable in the water, but you do not need to be a strong swimmer. Basic swimming ability is enough to join the program.
Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) is a beginner scuba experience run by a PADI-certified instructor. In Krabi, Mr. Dolphin runs DSD sessions at Ao Nang local reefs or at Koh Phi Phi Island. You complete 2 dives in a single day with no prior experience required. It is the most accessible way to try scuba diving in Krabi for the very first time.
No experience is needed for the DSD course. You need to be able to swim and feel reasonably comfortable in the water. The minimum age is 10 years. Your PADI instructor briefs you on everything before entering the water, and stays by your side throughout both dives.
Both are excellent scuba diving locations in Krabi. Ao Nang local reefs are calmer and more sheltered, making them ideal for first-time divers. Koh Phi Phi offers more dramatic underwater terrain with the possibility of seeing reef sharks, blue-spotted rays, and seahorses. Not sure when to go? The maximum depth for Discover Scuba Diving is 12 meters. Your PADI instructor controls the dive profile and will only go as deep as conditions allow and as you are comfortable with. Most DSD dives in Ao Nang take place between 5 and 10 meters.
Yes. If you enjoy your Discover Scuba Diving experience in Krabi, you can enroll in the PADI Open Water Diver course. Some of the skills you practiced during DSD may count toward your Open Water training. Ask your instructor or contact us directly to discuss upgrading.
